Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy....How you are missed my friend.
I met Jimmy at one of the first conferences I went to back in 1998 or 1999 along with a few other old timers like George L, Bob W. Tom M., Jimmy C. and Joe B. I only had 2 yrs in the program at the time. When Jimmy found out I was from New Orleans it was like he and the rest of them sort of adopted me. Jimmy truly loved New Orleans and came here as often as he could. I am so blessed to have known him. How he shared the program with me. He truly was a blessing to this fellowship as he carried the message of hope to so many people. He Loved this program and what it had done for him and he gave back to the fullest. He always had a smile on his face and a new joke to tell. I remember him always saying " Kathy, come here, you gotta here this" After he lost Claire (his first wife) that sort of stopped...... He was just sad.... He still was there at conferences, but yet he really wasn't. Then in 2004 in Montreal Canada he met Betty... They hit it off right away, I remember them dancing in the small lounge there at the hotel.... It was like the old Jimmy came back, telling jokes and smiling again. Betty would just sit there shaking her head and smiling. I had the privilege of being at their wedding and was witness to the happiness they brought each other.
I Love you Buddy |

Many people come into and out of our lives and some make impressions that last forever. Jimmy
S. was one of those people, he was kind, honest, gentle and always had that great smile and a
good joke to tell.
Jimmy will be missed by all those that had the pleasure of knowing him but he will never be forgotten by those that loved him. My deepest sympathy to Betty and the entire family. Rest in peace my friend until we meet again. |

| For my dearest and best friend Jimmy S. How do you say goodbye to a 40 year friendship? I have been blessed to have him as my best friend ever and partner in every way. Those who knew Jimmy knew that you met the real deal! Nothing phony, all about G.A. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and was always there for the new struggling member. What a special person he was. Jimmy was blessed to have Betty in his life for a short time but they lived a fairytale life together. I will have an emptiness in my heart forever for my best friend Jimmy S. God's waiting for you Jimmy. Please keep the jokes clean for Him. I love you pal. | |

| When I heard about Jimmy S. passing away, my thoughts again as has so often now, think about I'm of that age, that most of the time now I will be hearing more & more of the Oldtimers passing away. I didn't know Jimmy that well but would always saw him & George L, at the Trustee meeting & Area Conferences. I called Jim & George the Bobbsey Twins, you never saw one without the other. It was in the early 90's that Jimmy and I started to talk, in the lobby at one of the Conferences, in our conversation, we both found out that Jimmy got his job in the Hudson/Manhattan Railroad better known to New Yorkers & Jersey-ites as the Hudson Tubes. After my Father died, he took my Pop's place. We must have talked at that times for a few hours about what had gone on in Hoboken, the last stop in Jersey for the Tubes. Each time then after we always talk at each & every time we saw each other, even when we would meet at Mini- Conference or someone's anniversary, if it had to do with program, Jimmy was always there. Many times our conversation not only dealt with program but whatever was going on with each of us, it didn't matter, we would always found time for each of us to talk. I meet his wife Betty, from Orleans thru Liz N. Just like Jimmy, I talked with Betty before & after Jimmy & Betty got married. In Denis M's posting he talked about Jimmy's wit, and did he have that. You always came away at some point after seeing Jimmy, with a new Joke, always. Damn it, I'm sure going to miss my talks with him. Love ya Jimmy and say a prayer for me and also say Hi to Liz for me. | |

| Just a few brief words to honor the dear memory of my friend jimmy s..many years ago, i was fortunate enough to begin to attend national conferences..i was young in the fellowship, years away from being a trustee, just wide eyed about being around so many brothers and sisters from all across the country. Jimmy was among the first people, along with george l..his great pal..to befriend me at that time.....over the years we shared a few cigars, some ballgames in philly and new york, lots of good food and hundreds of jokes...told by him and me....he was just a great friend, a devoted Gamblers Anonymous member...a man's man, as they say....and i will miss him every single day. so many of my mentors in this program have passed..and now jimmy sadly joins that group....my debt to these mentors is eternal...there is no chance that i would be where i am today without people like jimmy s..my thoughts go out to betty...and to everyone who knew jimmy...we are a lesser fellowship for his departure, but greater as individuals for having known him......Peace and Fellowship | |
