Letter was received from George W., offering his regret for not being present and offering his best wishes for a successful Board of Trustees meeting. By George W’s absence from this meeting (making this his third consecutive absence) he is automatically dropped as a Trustee. George W. was Assistant Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. Item #3 from New Business of October 1972 meeting… Page 17. Item #4 of Combo pamphlet.. Should reference by made to the Unity Program? Second voting.

Motion by Al C., seconded by Herb C. to accept change to:…. “Read the Recovery and Unity Program often”. Approved: 19 for…0 against….0 abstained.

2. Item #4 from New Business of October 1972 meeting. Changes in Combo Pamphlet page 17. Heading of page…. Eliminate NEW MEMBERS putting entire first sentence in bold print. Second voting.

Motion by Ed M and seconded by Herb C. Approved: 20 for…0 against….0 abstained.

3. Item #4 of New Business of October 1972 meeting. Should the definition of Spiritual be included in the Combo pamphlet?

The word spiritual can be said to describe those characteristics of the human mind that represent the highest and finest qualities such as kindness, generosity, honesty and humility…..

FINANCING

Motion by Keith B., Make loan from Interest-free-loan.
If Interest exceeds $520.00, balance to be paid to donator of Loan and a letter be written to the donator giving explanation. 3 For… 16 against… 1 abstained.

Motion by Bernie S., seconded by Keith B., Motion to accept financing through a Bank of $8,000.00 or less.

Amendment by Sid L…. Loan for 18 months. Amendment died for lack of a second.

Amendment to motion by Jake P. and seconded by Keith B., to accept financing from any legitimate lending institution for the prevailing rate of Interest or less. 16 for…. 1 against…. 3 abstained.

6. Item #4.. Old Business of October 1972 Meeting. Twentieth (20th) Anniversary International Conference approved..Chicago, Illinois. Groups Chairman..Sam G.
Motion by Chris C., seconded by Bert G., the Conference be held July 21, 22, 23, and 24th (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday) 1977; that the Trustees meet on Wednesday, July 20, 1977 and that all Groups participate in this four-day Conference. 18 for….. 3 against…. 0 abstained

Request For Advance Money: Motion by Bill B., seconded by Sid L., that $2.00 be contributed per G.A. Member at every Conference starting in 1974 with the understanding the profit at the end of the Conference be sent to the National Service Office of Gamblers Anonymous….

7. Page 17, #5 of Combo Pamphlet. Change “Wife” to SPOUSE. Second Voting. 19 for… 0 against 1 abstained

NEW BUSINESS: 1. Election of National Executive Secretary:
Chairman called for nominations from the floor. Jim Z. was reappointed unanimously.

2. National Executive Secretary Expense Account:
Guidance Code does not correspond with By-Laws regarding this matter.
Motion by Red M. and seconded by Jake P. to make the Guidance Code conform to the By-Laws. 18 for…0 against ….. 2 abstained.

3. Ninety-Day Wonder Kit:
Trustees present to take back and read for decision as to whether this should be approved G.A. literature. A copy is to be sent to those Trustees not present.

4. Combo Pamphlet Where Letters “G.A.” Appear.
Letters “G.A.” to be replaced by Gamblers Anonymous (37 changes would be involved..Pages 2,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,14). Motion by Arnie W. and seconded by Eddie M., to make all changes. 4 for…14 against…2 abstained.

5(a) Should Gamblers Anonymous be involved in any book written by a member after publication and without prior approval? 0 for…19 against..2 abstained.

5(b) Book Entitled “Compulsive Gambler”. Should this be an accepted book to be distributed by G. A. Publishing?

5(a) A request was made that a copy of the Bibliography on Gambling be sent to all Trustees.

5(b) Distribute through G.A.P…. 0 for… 13 against….7 abstained.

6. Change Printing Error…Combo, page 14, Last Paragraph. Close brackets after the work “Skill”.

7. Amendment of Guidance Code: Art. 3, Sect. 1, #2, last sentence.
Motion by Al C., seconded by Bill B., to strike out and by whatever other method can be utilized and substitute by whatever other method is approved by the Board of Trustees. 7 for….13 against…0 abstained.

Amendment of Guidance Code: Motion by Herb C., seconded by Jake C., (referring to Article 3, Section 1, #2, last sentence) strike out whatever dignified method that is approved by the Board of Trustees within the framework of the Unity Program. 12 for…7 against….1 abstained.

8. Board of Trustees Response to Board of Regents Meetings And/Or Agendas: Board of Trustees to respond to Board of Regents before and not after the Board of Trustees have a mailing list of members of the Board of Regents. Board of Trustees is to write to the National Executive Secretary regarding Agendas which are to be read at the Board of Regents meeting and a reply is to be sent to Trustees in writing by the Nation Executive Secretary.

Article 111, Section 6. A written proxy shall be counted in determining a member present for the purpose of a quorum only. A proxy cannot be used to determine presence at a meeting unless such Regent’s permanent residence is in excess of 200 miles from the National Service Office. (Now in By-Laws). Motion by Bill B. to amend By-Laws to read as in old By-Laws. 17 for…0 against…3 abstained.

9. Billboards Discussion:
Motion by Bill B. to approve Billboard with the printed message that appears on the approved T.V. Slide. 10 for…6 against…4 abstained.

10. Quick Response Requests For Action By Entire Board in Case of Emergencies:
Quick response… week to ten (10) days.

11. Communication Amongst Trustees: Each Trustee when writing to another Trustee send a copy to all other Trustees.

12. Retention and Sponsorship Report:
Presented by Carl M. Submitted by the New York Intergroup…a copy given to all Trustees present. New York Intergroup to mail copies to all Trustees who are absent at this meeting.

13. Gamateen literature to be distributed by G.A.P. Purchase from where printed. 12 for…. 1 against….. 7 abstained

14. Intergroup Guidelines:

Two Proposed Guidelines for acceptance to be put in Guidance Code.
Passed out at this meeting… to be taken back for study..changes, deletions, additions etc., for the next Physical Meeting to be held in Detroit, Michigan (Meeting of the Board of Trustees).
