MINUTES OF BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING SO. FALLSBURG, N. Y. APRIL 10, 1970 Meeting called to order at 2:45 P.M. with the following members present: Chairman Bill G., Ohio, Bill B., N. Y., Sol D., N.Y., Francis E., N.J., Don F., Mass., Sid L., Calif., Marty T., N.Y., Jake G. Ill., Joe D., R.I., Jake C., Ohio, Mitch R., N.J. Clarence R., Mich., Kent R., Md., Sy S., N.Y. Visitors in attendance were Bill B., member of Board of Regents, Benni F., National Executive Secretary, and Jack W., Philadelphia. 14 Trustees attended meeting. Joe D., Providence, R.I. was appointed Recording Secretary of meeting. Motion was made by Bill B. (B.O.T.) to have open meeting. Disapproved. Motion made by Ken R., Md. To invite past Trustees or present Board of Regent members, was approved. Invited guests were Bill B., N.Y. (B.O.R.), Benni F., Exec. Sec’y., and Jack W., Phila. Discussion was held on raising money to help support N.S.O. Suggestion was made that each group ask for two contributions at each meeting; one to support its own group and one specially for N.S.O., and to spend at least 5 minutes of each meeting to discuss functions of N.S.O. Each group should have elected or appointed an N.S.O. representative to collect money. Suggestion was made by Don F., that the Bulletin each month contain a page of the N.S.O. report to be read by the N.S.O. representative or secretary at each meeting. All area should have Trustee elections by May 15, and notify N.S.O. of results by June 1. All areas must now elect an alternate Trustee at the same time. Election bulletins for B.O.R. being sent out soon. GROWTH OF G.A. – Suggestion made by Marty T. that Chairman appoint a committee to contact someone such as the Ford Foundation to publish a big book on G.A. Bernie F. suggested that more time should be spent on the second to eleventh step because the retention in G.A. is not what it should be. PUBLIC RELATIONS – Discussion was held on the use of slides successful in the New England area and elsewhere, and N.S.O. to check on cost of making slides. Suggestion made by Bill B. that a list be made of which method of advertising has proven successful and what has not been successful in all areas. Suggestion made that family service and list of other organizations be sent to N.S.O. for mailing of literature. Meeting adjourned. Meeting reconvened April 11, 1970 at 5:00 P.M. Toronto, Canada, made appeal to host National Convention in 1971. Disapproved. Motion made by Bill B. that National Convention be held in 1972, site to be determined at a later date. Motion seconded by Francis E. Approved (12-0)
